Home Improvement Crusade 2005 -- When Will it End?

I'd be in a lot of trouble if I let my hormones pick my paint colors. One day it's blue and next it's yellow, or maybe green. I needed to come to my senses yesterday at the Benjamin Moore store and give myself a good kick in the pants and pick a damn color already! After all the time looking at two hundred different shades of the color blue and deciding on "that one, that's it!", I was expecting the guy at the counter to say, "mam, that color has been discontinued." But he didn't, and at four o'clock yesterday I had only finished the first coat of primer. One only hopes that they will have to do just one coat of primer, but it looks like I am not so lucky and so it's another day of white paint (which I somehow manage to get everywhere on me without trying).

We are STILL trying to find a kitchen contractor. And, oh, by the way, thanks to all who gave me such wonderful advice on kitchens, and for Kim for sending me her great pics of her kitchen remodel. She has a beautiful kitchen. It gives me hope. Another contractor guy offered to do it for a little less moolaa than the 23 k guy, but do you think he's called me? Of course not! I have another yahoo coming to the house today. I have been rubbing my good luck stone all morning and promising to do more good things if this could be the one. When you're thinking of buying an old house and also thinking of how charming it would be to remodel it, well, step outside the wonderland and run straight for the listing that says, "just built with brand new everything", you'll be so much happier, I promise. HGTV never portrays this side of the game table. Okay, I need to step off the rant box. All done (for now).

It's the little things. We picked our first eggplant last night and added it to a medley of grilled vegetables. Yummmmer! What a pretty vegetable.

We were waiting for the mystery to unravel withe one of the plants. Eric had planted a seedling in one of the boxes all by itself and didn't know what he had planted. It is this beautiful gourd plant. Has anyone made things out of these? My husband says he'll take on the challenge.

I seriously didn't believe my husband when he told me there was a huge caterpillar living in the eggplants. I thought that once I finally got a glimpse it would be the wee size of the end of my pinky finger. Well....here it is! It's the size of my entire pinky finger. The little fella has no eyes.
